Uniform Combinations
Quick Overview
Combo 1:
Full dress uniform. Long or short sleeve shirt with tie, and dress coat worn at all times. All uniform items excluding blue name tags and cloth officer ranks should be placed on the dress coat.
Combo 2:
Long sleeve dress shirt with tie, and optionally lightweight jacket. All items should be worn on the blue dress shirt.
Combo 3:
Short sleeve dress shirt with tie, and optionally lightweight jacket. All items should be worn on the blue dress shirt.
Combo 4:
Short sleeve dress shirt without tie, and optionally lightweight jacket. Top button should be worn unbuttoned at all times. All items should be worn on the blue dress shirt.
ABUs/OCPs:
Air Force Battle Uniform/Operational Camouflage Pattern. Refer to the page of whichever uniform you are issued. If issued both, the Operational Camouflage Pattern takes priority. Both uniforms take priority over any dress uniform combo.
Polo Uniform:
Only available to 1st year Cadets upon request. Refer to the Polo Uniform page.

Male Uniform Standards
Cadet Appearance
Hair:
Hair must be kept clean, neat, and trimmed. It must not contain large amounts of grooming aids that remain visible in the hair. Hair should not touch the ears or extend over the eyebrows. Hair should not exceed 2 1/2 inches in bulk regardless of the length. Bulk and length of hair must not interfere with the proper wearing of any Air Force headgear. Hair must have a tapered appearance on both sides and back, both with and without headgear. Hair may not contain or have attached to it any visible foreign items. Hair extensions of any kind are not authorized. You may not dye your hair an unnatural color while in uniform.
Sideburns and Facial Hair:
Sideburns must be neatly trimmed, straight and tapered and may not extend below the lowest part of the outer ear opening. Sideburns will end in a clean-shaven horizontal line. Mustaches must be trimmed and not extend beyond the mouth. Beards are not allowed allowed in uniform, unless for an approved medical reasons, and must be no more than ¼ inch in length.
Body Piercings:
Ear, nose, lips, mouth rings, or any other piercings will not be worn in uniform.
Fingernails:
Nail polish will not be worn in uniform. Fingernails will not exceed more than ¼ inch in length beyond the tip of the finger, and must be clean and well groomed.
Accessories:
Cadets may wear at most 3 rings, which will be worn at the base of the finger, and may be worn on the thumb. Necklaces, if worn, will be concealed under a collar or undershirt, and not visible at any time. Cadets may wear one bracelet around their wrist. If worn, the bracelet will be no wider than ½ inch, gold, silver, or black in color, and will not have any inappropriate pictures or writing. Bracelets expressing support for cause, philosophy, individual or group are not authorized, except traditional POW/MIA/KIA bracelets, which may also be bronze. Cadets may wear one watch on either wrist, which will be either solid black, brown, silver or, gold. Watch bands may not exceed 1 inch in width.
Glasses and Contacts:
Eyeglasses/sunglasses will be worn in the manner for which they are made. Eyeglasses and sunglasses will not be worn around the neck or on top/back of head or exposed hanging on the uniform. Reflective or mirrored sunglasses are not authorized. Sunglasses are not authorized in formation. Contact lenses will be natural looking in shape and design. They will be clear in color and not change the color of the cadets natural eye color.
Earbuds and Headphones:
Earbuds and headphones will not be worn in uniform.

Cadets are permitted to wear the uniform during all AFJROTC functions and to and from an activity and/or school. Uniforms are not to be worn for personal use, employment, and/or recreation. Exceptions to this rule for wear to appropriate military functions may be granted by the SASI on a case-by-case basis.
Dress Coat:
All buttons must be buttoned. Flat items may be carried in the inside pocket. Nothing will be worn in the outside pocket. The coat may be taken off in classrooms, but must be worn when changing classes in the hallways. The coat must be worn and buttoned in the hallways, cafeteria, and outside the building. The blue dress shirt must be ironed.
Tie/Tie Tack/Clasp:
The tie should be tied in either a half-windsor, or full windsor. The tie should cover the top button of the dress shirt, and extend down to cover part of the belt buckle, but not extend over it. A tie tack or clasp is optional; and may be purchased at the expense of the Cadet. However, if worn, the tie tack or clasp will be the “wing and star” design, Air Force symbol, or rank insignia. The tie tack or clasp will be centered between the bottom edge of the knot and bottom tip of the tie.
Belt/Belt Buckle/Gig Line:
The male belt buckle should start on the left side of the fly-front zipper. The flange should not be showing on the left side of the buckle, nor should the belt material. The silver tip should perfectly cover the flange. The bottom of the dress shirt placket, start of the belt buckle, and fly-front zipper should be aligned in one straight line.
Slacks:
Slacks should have no bunching in the waist or seat. The bottom of the slacks will rest on the front of the shoes with a slight break in the crease. Object in the pockets will not present a bulky appearance. Slacks should be ironed with little to no wrinkles.
Socks/Shoes:
Plain black socks provided, or a similar appearing substitute must be worn. Shoes will be laced and tied. They will be polished (including the heel and sole). Patent leather shoes are not authorized. Quick-shine liquid is not authorized, and will severely damage the issued shoes.
Uniform Devices:
Keep all metal uniform devices such as belt buckles, or insignias clean and shined.
